RPGs are for Nerds

I have been interested in Roleplaying for quite a few years. I didn’t really get involved in the hobby until I got to College at Montana State University, where I begin playing in a series of Dungeons & Dragons games, followed eventually by Shadowrun.

In 2004, I joined the Something Awful Forums, and eventually encountered their Traditional Games subforum, which (for better or worse) has been more or less taken over by Play-by-Post Roleplaying games. In that community, I became exposed to Steve Jackson Games’ GURPS system, which has become one of my favorite systems do date. Any more, I hate making characters in Class-based systems like D&D.

As I became more involved in the Traditional Games community, I eventually took over running the Traditional Games IRC Bot, and serving the Traditional Games Wiki.

Characters

  • Ryan Filkon is a character created for a Firefly game being run on SA. The system was a modified OTE, since this was well before the new Serenity RPG system was built.
